“Same day loan” describes speed. At CashLab, it means one of two regulated loans, decided and paid out as quickly as the required checks allow.
SACC
Small Amount Credit Contract
Most urgent bills, like a car repair or a broken fridge. Centrelink income accepted from $800 a fortnight.
MACC
Medium Amount Credit Contract
Bigger costs, for applicants with employment income of at least $500 a week.
Both are covered by the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009, so the fees are capped and the lender has to confirm the repayments fit your budget before approving anything, however fast the process runs. Our guides to SACC loans and MACC loans explain each one in detail.
The law caps what any lender can charge for a small loan, however quickly it’s paid out. On a SACC, the most a lender can charge is a one-off fee of 20% of the loan, plus 4% of the loan for every month of the term. For a $500 loan repaid over three months, the maximum looks like this:
For $2,001 to $5,000, a MACC can carry a $400 establishment fee and interest of up to 48% per annum on the remaining balance. Either way, borrow only the amount on your bill. On a SACC, every extra dollar you borrow attracts the same 20% upfront and 4% a month.
| $500 SACC over 3 months | Maximum |
|---|---|
| Establishment fee (20% of $500) | $100 |
| Monthly fees ($20 a month for 3 months) | $60 |
| Total repaid | $660 |
This example uses the maximum fees allowed. The real figures for your loan appear in your contract before you sign. Total SACC repayments are also capped at twice the amount borrowed, even if a payment is missed.
No payslip? Bank statements usually do the same job, and our guide to getting a loan without a payslip explains how.
Apply face to face in Midland or Geraldton and ask anything before you commit.
Fees stay within the legal caps and are set out in dollars in your contract before you sign.
A small bill doesn’t mean borrowing more than you need.
We review your bank statements properly, with no “guaranteed approval” promises.

Search for “fast money” online and you’ll find plenty of lenders, and not all of them follow the rules. Before you apply anywhere:
Most same day loans cover a one-off cost that can’t wait until payday.
When the car you need to get to work breaks down.
A fridge or washing machine that has to be fixed or replaced now.
When a pet needs treatment straight away.
CashLab doesn’t lend for rent, mortgage repayments, groceries or other everyday living costs.
Some of the quickest help costs nothing, so it’s worth a few minutes before you apply.
If you receive a Centrelink payment, you may be able to get part of it early, interest-free, through Services Australia.
Call whoever sent the bill before it’s due and ask whether you can pay it in instalments.
No-interest, no-fee loans of up to $2,000 for essentials, for people on lower incomes, at nils.com.au.
The National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 can talk through your options at no cost.

FAQs
Often, yes. Complete applications with all documents, including photo ID, bank statements and proof of income, received by 3pm AWST on a business day can usually be decided the same day. Every application still goes through a full check of your income and bank statements, so approval isn’t guaranteed.
Once you’ve signed your contract, the money is sent to you by bank transfer within 15 minutes. How fast it lands then depends on your bank’s processing times.
Yes. You can apply online at any time, our Midland store is open seven days, and Geraldton is open Monday to Saturday. Applications made on a Sunday or public holiday may be assessed on the next business day.
Yes, for a SACC of $300 to $2,000, as long as your Centrelink income adds up to at least $800 a fortnight. A MACC needs employment income of at least $500 a week. It’s worth asking about a Centrelink advance first, since it’s interest-free.
At the most the law allows, a $500 SACC has a $100 establishment fee and $20 a month in fees. Over three months, that’s $660 in total. Your contract shows your actual figures before you sign.
“Payday loan” is the everyday name for a small amount loan. Its legal name is a Small Amount Credit Contract, or SACC, and the law caps its fees and total repayments whatever it’s called.
Not from a licensed lender. Every licensed lender has to check that you can afford the repayments, usually by reviewing your bank statements, so a “no credit check” promise is a red flag.
Between $300 and $2,000 with a SACC, or $2,001 to $5,000 with a MACC if you have employment income. The amount depends on what you need and what your income can support.
